Deepika Padukone IPL Bid: Bollywood star couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh want to become the owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team. In the 2022 season of IPL, two new franchises are set to happen, which will increase the number of teams to ten.
The IPL governing body had invited bids to acquire the rights to two new teams for the upcoming season. The report of Deepika and Ranveer bidding is going viral on social media. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has posted a joke on Twitter. He wrote that the jersey of the team owned by Ranveer is going to be interesting, as he is famous for his dressing.

Even the fans started speculating as to what the jersey would look like if Ranveer wins the bid for a new IPL franchise. It should come as no surprise that a Bollywood icon would own a cricket team.

Kolkata Knight Riders is co-owned by Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla while Preity Zinta has a stake in Punjab Kings. Apart from this, buying an IPL team of Deepika will not come as a surprise as her family comes from a sports background. Deepika’s father Prakash Padukone is a former champion of All England badminton.
It is being said in some reports that at this time Adani, RP-Sanjeev Goenka Group, Glazer family have all shown interest in buying new teams. Apart from this, pharma companies like Torrent Pharma and Aurobindo Pharma have also taken bid documents. A Singapore-based private equity firm and a US-based venture capitalist have also bought documents.
